Tribute by Lt Col Sybie van der Spuy on behalf of the Special Forces League

Friends, I can actually say ***family**** thank you for being here and on behalf of the South African Special Forces League and the National Management Body, I would like to thank you for the opportunity and the honour to be gathered here today for this occasion. The SA Special Forces League is an organization that was formed 15 years ago, not very far from this very position. We where formed under the authority of General Eddie Webb and with Oom Fritz as our father and organizer. We have come a long way, we have had a bumpy ride, up and down, but in the last few years the League has grown, but has not grown because of its organizational skills or because of its capacity or finances. It has grown because of people standing here today who became actively involved and participated. It is through this brotherhood, comradeship that we today remember our friends, our comrades in arms. It is through this unity that we have, that the League is going to go forward and grow. The League is but a vessel. It is you the members, the participants that are going to make it possible for us to carry on with our job and to assist fellow soldiers and ex comrades in future and allow us to continue with this type of action. The initiative here was from 3 individuals who gave their time, dedication, will and momentum for us to be here together today. Manny under your leadership thank you so much for what you have done. Thank you for showing us and taking the lead, helping us to see the bigger picture ‘that what ever we are, comes from the inside, not from the outside'. From the South African Special Forces League, thank you, one and all for being here and thank you for supporting and contributing towards this tombstone. We really appreciate it: “Muito Obrigado, Thank you.”
